Wayne's College of Beauty is the winner of the John Ciardi Prize for Poetry, selected by Colleen J. McElroy. The poems in this book divide into four thematic sections: Fathers and Mothers/Husbands and Wives, Water/War, Known/Unknown, and Departure /Arrival. Each section's poems explore its theme from perspectives that range from the intensely personal to the philosophical and metaphysical. These poems show beauty as a fundamentally human form of understanding.
